What is the difference between pet and PE?

Polyethylene terephthalate is a colorless transparent substance with certain luster (without qualitative), or an opaque milky white substance (crystalline). It is difficult to catch fire and burn, but once burned, the flame can still continue to burn even though it is away from it. When burned, it will melt and burst into fragments. The flame is yellow, the edge is early blue, and there are small drops falling, black smoke, slightly sweet and irritating smell in the mountain belt. The properties of pure PET are very poor, especially the impact strength and heat resistance, but after being reinforced by glass fiber, all kinds of properties are greatly improved.

Polyethylene (PE)

Physical characteristics: polyethylene is non-toxic, tasteless and milky white. And a density of 0.91 to 0.96 g / cm3. Polyethylene has a certain mechanical strength, but compared with other plastics, its mechanical strength is low and its surface hardness is poor.

Polyethylene has excellent insulation performance. At normal temperature, polyethylene is insoluble in any known solvent, and resistant to dilute sulfuric acid, dilute nitric acid, other acids of any concentration, and alkali and salt solutions of various concentrations. Polyethylene has high water resistance, and its performance can remain unchanged after long-term contact with water. Polyethylene has poor water vapor permeability, while it has good permeability to oxygen, carbon dioxide and many organic matter vapors.

Use temperature - weather resistance: polyethylene will age and become brittle under the action of heat, light and oxygen. Generally, the service temperature of high-pressure polyethylene is about 800C, and that of low-pressure polyethylene is about 1000C. Polyethylene is cold resistant, still has good mechanical properties at - 600C, and still has certain softness at - 700C.
